Editor’s note: We first wrote about Slip’s dermatologist-recommended silk pillowcase in March 2017, naming it the best — and prettiest — pillowcase for those with sensitive skin (and hair). In the six years since, the pillowcase has remained a Strategist favorite: Kourtney Kardashian named it one of the things she can’t live without, and it’s our pick for the best luxury silk pillowcase. We’re republishing this post because, as part of the Strategist’s Two-Day Sale, the pillowcase is 20 percent off at SkinStore with the code STRAT20. The sale ends tomorrow, April 27, at 11:59 p.m., so don’t miss your chance. For more Strategist-exclusive deals, check out the Two-Day Sale here — or read on for our full review of the Slip pillowcase.
The Goal: Find a glamorous silk pillowcase, which, unlike cotton and even satin, creates minimal friction against the face and head and is thus said to reduce irritation, wrinkles, and hair frizz.
The Verdict: The Slip, which was developed by Australian Fiona Stewart 13 years ago after a dermatologist recommended silk for her sensitive skin, is made of exceptionally soft and cool-to-the-cheek pure mulberry silk. Since it launched in the U.S. in 2015, the Slip’s weight of 22 momme — a measurement that correlates with softness and typically hovers around 19 with other silk pillowcases — has helped build its loyal following among beauty experts like celebrity dermatologist Dennis Gross. Instagram bonus: It comes in that highly photogenic shade we’ve come to call “Millennial Pink.”
