If you’re anything like me, this time last year, you elected to put a substantial amount of pre-tax dollars into a health-savings account (HSA) to cover all the appointments you were going to make. You had plans to get a new glasses prescription, see a dermatologist and an allergist, and finally get a primary-care physician — but in reality, you went to the gynecologist once and managed to get one of the last dentist appointments of the year and are left with hundreds of dollars in your HSA account. While some plans allow for a capped amount of funds to roll over into the new year, not all of it will, depending on how much you have left over.
We all know it’s unrealistic that you’ll be able to book a bunch of doctor’s appointments before December 31, but that doesn’t mean your money has to go to waste. There are lots of over-the-counter items that are HSA eligible to spend it on. So we’re introducing the Strategist’s HSA store of sorts: Everything below is something we’ve written about before and can be purchased with your left over funds. We even cross-referenced with the HSA Store to double check. While some items are a little bit boring, like Pepto Bismol and tampons, others, like a 23andme kit, Supergoop! Sunscreen, and splurge-worthy baby monitors, are truly delightful.
The Strategist is designed to surface the most useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape. Some of our latest conquests include the best acne treatments, rolling luggage, pillows for side sleepers, natural anxiety remedies, and bath towels. We update links when possible, but note that deals can expire and all prices are subject to change.
