Editor’s Note: After a two week hiatus, the serum is back in stock. It sold out last time in a matter of hours, so act quickly.
At a Peach & Lily press preview a few weeks ago, I found myself face-to-face with founder Alicia Yoon, who — to my delight — looked me over and complimented me on my skin. My secret? “Honestly, I’ve been using your Glass Skin Refining Serum every day, and it’s so good.”
That wasn’t brownnosing, to be clear. This stuff is, no hyperbole, the best hydrating serum I’ve ever tried. The concept of “glass skin” — the Korean beauty technique of prepping your skin so it looks so healthy and hydrated that it looks practically translucent — is not new, but this product has perfected the art. It really does go on like a glassy sheen, light and gel-like, but lasts throughout the day (I use it every day, twice a day — layered over my toner and essence, but under thicker ampoules and creams). Somehow it does the job of making my dry skin look impossibly dewy, plump, and less red all at once, thanks to a cocktail of niacinamide for reducing inflammation, hyaluronic acid (a trusted hydrator), peptides for firming and restoring the skin barrier, and even a vitamin-rich peach extract.
And since its launch in July, the beauty world has worked itself into a frenzy. Beauty blogger Omg Bart summed it up in an Instagram comment that simply read, “The serum is INSANE.” A Klog contributor calls it “the best of its kind.” Coveteur editor Hannah Baxter wrote that she’s been flooded with questions since she posted on Instagram about it. Peach & Lily can hardly keep it in stock. Here and there, a good Reddit Samaritan will send up a flag to let others know when it’s restocked (fleetingly), but it’s so hard to find, sites are doing stories about the best Glass Skin Serum dupes.
But you don’t have to waste your time with replicas now that the serum is back (while you can get it) at Ulta. I’ll be stockpiling maybe two or three of these puppies. I’d suggest you move fast, too.
