President Obama and Mitt Romney’s first debate is just days away, and the expectations are low. But are they too low? Probably not, but maybe. In yet another debate prep dispatch, the New York Times reports that Romney’s people have “equipped him with a series of zingers that he has memorized and has been practicing on aides since August.” Said zingers are set for deployment once Romney has “lured the president into appearing smug or evasive about his responsibility for the economy.” Understandably, the campaign did not offer any hints as to the nature of the zingers — that would take the zing out of them, after all — but we’re looking forward to watching Mitt attempt to work with the “there you go again” model.
