Anonymous U.S. officials say that along with a handwritten diary and 100 flash drives, SEAL Team Six also confiscated a rather sizable collection of pornographic material from Osama bin Laden’s Abbottabad compound. Reuters describes the stash as “fairly extensive,” containing “modern, electronically recorded video,” which makes sense considering the compound was cut off from the Internet or any other hardwired communications networks. It’s unclear whether bin Laden had either purchased or watched any of the tapes, but based on the video of bin Laden watching himself on a TV screen, they know he had a VCR. There’s no word on whether it was something kinkier than footage of women’s ankles, but U.S. authorities say it’s not uncommon to find porn in Islamic terrorist hideouts. Of course, since the information is coming from unnamed officials, it’s also possible that this is just U.S. propaganda to make bin Laden look like a hypocrite and to shame Al Qaeda. Guess the deathers will have to take up the cause of releasing the tapes before anyone can be sure.
