President Obama, along with daughters Sasha and Malia, packed up their bathing suits, flip-flops, and leis, and headed back to the mainland on Air Force One this morning, but Michelle Obama will remain at the family’s vacation spot in Hawaii. The First Lady’s 50th birthday is January 17, and the New York Times reports that her extended stay is “part of the president’s birthday gift to his wife.” Presents are that much more meaningful when they help you avoid a polar vortex.
