While the rest of the world was getting to know Darren Wilson through the just-released transcripts of his grand jury testimony — during which he attempted to justify the shooting of Mike Brown by explaining that the wounded 18-year-old looked like “a demon” — George Stephanopoulos was actually talking to the Ferguson police officer.
“Just finished a more than hourlong interview with Officer Darren Wilson,” read a Tuesday tweet from the ABC news anchor, who beat out several other high-profile journalists vying to interview Wilson. “No question off limits.” Most of those answers are set to air tonight.
A short video released by ABC shows Wilson sitting down at a table with Stephanopoulos in a “secret location.” While it doesn’t feature any footage of Wilson talking, Stephanopoulos gives you an idea of what to expect: “While he did say he was sorry for the loss of life — of Michael Brown’s life — he said he would not do anything different that day, that he did what he was trained to do.”
