We know everyone wants to talk about Allen Iverson right now, whether you’re angry that he’s not coming, or relieved that he’s not coming, or just bewildered over how you’re going to actually watch this team now that he’s not coming. But we’re not here to talk about that right now. We’re here to talk about tomorrow night’s historic matchup. It’s very possible it’s the worst professional sporting event in tri-state-area history. It’s gonna be awesome.
Yes, tomorrow afternoon, at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey, it’s:
The 2–9 New York Knicks!
At!
The 0–12 New Jersey Nets!
That’s right, the area teams are currently a combined 2–21. And now they’re playing each other.
It’s a 1 p.m. start, which means you’ll have to wake up early. (Tickets, shockingly, are available.) But don’t worry: The Nets, who are promoting the heck out of the game on their front page, are making it clear what the real draw is: a special appearance by Dora the Explorer. Dora’s going to be chilling NETS “Kids Country” section the whole game. Caitlin Sanchez, the 13-year-old who does Dora’s voice, will sing the National Anthem, and then, we assume, get the hell out of there.
Again: Tickets still available. Really.
