All right, in the wake of the Jets’ wrenching 10–7 loss to the Falcons on Sunday afternoon, we’ve spent the last 45 minutes playing with the Yahoo! Sports Playoff Scenario Generator, trying to come up with a way that the Jets make the playoffs. There is a way. There really is.
Here’s what we came up with:
The Jets need to win their final two games, at Indianapolis and home against Cincinnati.
The Denver Broncos need to lose one of their final two games, at Philadelphia and home against Kansas City.
Miami needs to lose one of its last two games, home against Houston and home against Miami Pittsburgh.
Baltimore needs to lose one of its last two games, at Pittsburgh and at Oakland.
It is possible that all of those things might happen. It is possible that on January 3, at 1 p.m., in East Rutherford, New Jersey, against the Cincinnati Bengals, the last game at Giants Stadium, at the Meadowlands, will have some importance. But we all know better, don’t we?
We’ll get into the details of the game tomorrow, but for now: Jets fans can enjoy their Christmas weekend, unmolested by the need to watch a Jets game.
