Fun With the #ESPNFavreRulesForAll Twitter Hashtag

Right after the Vikings’ lost to the Saints last night, thanks largely to yet another foolish, soul-crushing interception from Brett Favre, ESPN’s Tom Jackson had the opportunity to talk about the historic Saints victory. He didn’t. Instead, he said, “That’s the thing about Brett Favre: He’s not afraid to throw interceptions. You have to admire him for that.” Weary of ESPN’s constant Favre fellatio, baseball writer Craig Calcaterra joked on Twitter: “That’s the thing about Buckner ’ he’s not afraid to muff a grounder. That’s one of the things I most admire about him.” That inspired us, on our own Twitter, to create the #ESPNFavreRulesForAll hashtag. We were delighted to see the joke take off overnight, and into today. Our favorites so far? “That’s the thing about Lincoln. He’s not afraid to go to a play with minimal security. Gotta respect that.” And: “That’s the thing about blockbuster movie directors: They’re not afraid to give speeches in imaginary languages they invented.” And: “That’s the thing about Marcia. She’s willing to call Peter to dinner even though he’s got a football. I admire that.” There are many great ones.
