The Week the Jets’ Season Ended

The Colts dashed the Jets’ Super Bowl dreams on Sunday, and it might be a while until another one of our hometown teams plays in a postseason game. The Rangers, right on the playoff bubble, blew a lead to Pittsburgh, then got embarrassed by Carolina. And the Knicks lost by 50 on Sunday, then collapsed against Toronto last night. (They did win one game this week, but it’s not looking good for the Sports Section–approved playoff boomlet.) Also, PECOTA says the Yankees will finish third. What else happened this week?

We met the youngest NCAA basketball coach in the country.

The Mets considered Tom Glavine 2.0, a.k.a., John Smoltz.

We looked at the NCAA tournament hopes of all the local schools — and also Syracuse.

You became eligible for the U.S. Open.

We previewed the Giants’ and Jets’ off-seasons.

And we asked some questions about the forthcoming Randy Winn era.

Have fun at your Pro Bowl parties this weekend. We’ll see you on Monday.
