NYC College Hoops Tour Continues: Hello, Columbia!

So far, we’ve checked out St. Francis’s Peter Aquilone Court, Long Island U’s Wellness, Recreation and Athletic Center, a doubleheader at the Garden, Fordham’s Rose Hill Gym, Manhattan College’s Draddy Gymnasium, the nightmare that was Wagner’s Spiro Sports Center, and St. John’s Carnesecca Arena. Tomorrow night, our NYC College Hoops Tour concludes: It’s time for some Columbia Lions basketball!

Tomorrow, at 7 p.m., we’ll head to Columbia’s campus, to Levien Gym, to see the final game of Columbia’s season, against Princeton. It’s the last game for Princeton, too: Cornell has already clinched the Ivy League’s automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. Columbia is 9–15, 3–7 in the Ivy, which, historically, isn’t all bad for them.

For the last time this season, we simulated the game on NCAA Basketball 2010 on our PS3, and, as usual, our PS3 likes the home team. Columbia won our simulation, 71–66, thanks to 50 percent shooting from the field and seven assists from sophomore Noruwa Agho.

Of all the venues we visited this year, we were looking forward most to Wagner and Columbia, because we had absolutely no idea what to expect from either. You saw what happened when we went to Wagner. We hope and suspect better this time.

But yes: Princeton at Columbia. 7 p.m. Saturday night. Be there!
