Jose Reyes was all set to make his spring training debut today — his name was on the lineup card, and this post was set to run with the phrase “Nothing to Worry About” in the headline — but he’s been scratched from the lineup and is headed back to New York for tests on what doctors believe is an overactive thyroid. He’ll undergo the tests Monday, and won’t be able to do any physical activity for 48 hours afterward while they wait for the results. (If you’d like to watch today’s game anyway, it’s on SNY at 1.) In other Mets news, they signed reliever Kiko Calero yesterday, and they might be trading Gary Matthews Jr. before he ever plays a regular-season game; the Reds want him now, so it’s unlikely he’ll win the interim center-field job from Angel Pagan. The Mets actually have two games today: The studs (David Wright, Jason Bay) will be at Tradition Field, and the other team — which includes Matthews and Alex Cora — will be in Jupiter to play the Cardinals. Also in Jupiter: Us, this exact second, as you read this. Here’s hoping we don’t get decked by a Jeff Francoeur line drive. It’s very sunny here.
