As had been expected, the Yankees announced Phil Hughes will be their fifth starter to begin the season. That means no Alfred Aceves and no, alas, Joba Chamberlain, back to the pen, no more Joba rules, thank heavens. Joba is currently slated for a role as a set-up man, though manager Joe Girardi says he’ll “have to earn it.” This assures Joba’s position as the most talked about middle reliever in baseball, probably for the next couple of years.
