We hoped that St. Francis (NY) would be inspired by our exhaustive preview of their key season finale (or, you know, their Jesuit Catholic faith, whatever), but it ‘twas not to be: The Terriers lost 68–56 to Central Connecticut State on Saturday, costing them a spot in the NEC Tournament. Oh, well. Long Island beat Bryant, though, clinching themselves the No. 4 seed in the tourney, which begins Thursday. The Blackbirds will host Fairleigh Dickinson at 7:30 in the first round, so unless you really have to find out what happens with Jim and Pam’s baby on The Office, get to Brooklyn and cheer them on. This is, essentially, the last chance for any NYC team to make the NCAAs this year. Okay, okay, fine, Syracuse, sure.
