Javier Vazquez’s outing last night was neither disastrous nor spectacular — it was only marginally better than his last appearance, the one that got him booed off the mound at Yankee Stadium — but this time he had plenty of support. A two-out rally in the first and a three-run home run by Alex Rodriguez in the fifth gave Vazquez a 6–0 lead, and Joba Chamberlain’s strikeout of Kevin Kouzmanoff with the bases loaded and two outs in seventh preserved Vazquez’s first win of the year. The Yankees, who went on to win 7–3, have now won five straight, and eight out of nine.
