For all the angst about the Mets’ slow start, there are several players having nice beginnings to their seasons. Jeff Francoeur has three homers and is actually walking. David Wright’s power is back. Four relievers haven’t given up a run. But most noteworthy has to be starter Mike Pelfrey, who was excellent again last night, shutting down the Rockies to win 5–0 and end the Mets’ four-game losing streak. Pelfrey has won both his starts, giving up just two runs in thirteen innings. He is personally responsible for 66 2/3 percent of all the Mets’ victories. Unfortunately, he won’t pitch again until next Tuesday. Try to make do in the meantime.
