The Knicks once again spent the first weekend of the playoffs watching other teams play, but that doesn’t mean there wasn’t something to cheer for: The salary cap is going up! Well, not going up, exactly; in fact, it’s going down. But it’s not going down nearly as low as some had feared, which means the Knicks almost assuredly will have enough money to sign two free agents to max contracts this summer. Had the cap gone as low as some had feared, the Knicks would have only been able to offer one max contract and then a second at slightly less than max. So, now we know: LeBron James and Chris Bosh are officially coming. Sweet!
