The Mets’ Season Begins NOW

The Mets might not have the most inspiring starting lineup — it includes Alex Cora, Mike Jacobs, and Gary Matthews Jr. — but they do have Johan Santana taking the mound, and it’s a lovely day outside. So it begins: The 2010 Mets’ slate, which can’t possibly be worse than anything else that has happened the last three years, kicks off at 1:10 today. Santana, who, contrary to reports, wouldn’t be the second-best pitcher in the Mets’ rotation if he threw with his right hand, will face the Marlins’ Josh Johnson. We’ll have a full report after the game, but if you plan on going out there anytime during this six-game season-opening home stand, you should definitely check out the new Mets Museum, honoring the Mets tradition at the new stadium a year late, but apparently quite adequately. It’s opening day. Everyone is undefeated. Mr. Met is out for blood.
