Of all the sponsors who have bolted Ship Tiger since Thanksgiving night, the one that has stuck with him, no matter what, has been Nike Golf. The shoe company’s golf arm, one of its most profitable segments, exists entirely because of Tiger: He’d probably have to kill Phil Knight to be dropped. So it’s no surprise Nike Golf has the first post-scandal Tiger advertisement, presumably set for the Masters tomorrow. It’s an audacious spot, basically a close-up on a silent Tiger as his late father’s voice asks him, “I want to find out what your thinking was … I want to find out what your feelings are … and did you learn anything?” No matter what you think of the ad, it’s certain that every cable channel in the world is going to be talking about it tomorrow.
