About fifteen minutes ago, the Yankees received their 2009 World Championship Rings at Yankee Stadium, including Hideki Matsui, in town with the Angels for the home opener. If you’re not already there, or watching on YES right now, you’re missing that, though there’s still time, if you hustle, to see Kristin Chenoweth sing the national anthem or Bernie Williams throw out the first pitch. It’s an exciting day: Joe’s been out there since about 8 a.m., we suspect, sticking pins in a doll of Javier Vazquez. Anyway, today’s pitching matchup is Andy Pettitte versus Ervin Santana, and it’s Yankees fans’ first chance to see Curtis Granderson, or “The Grandy Man,” as some crazy people have been calling him. It’s opening day at Yankee Stadium, the year after they won the World Series. Pretty tough to beat that.
