Clearly Terrified by Wilpon, the Mets Win

Mets owner Jeff Wilpon, disturbed by the Mets’ recent losing skein, traveled to Atlanta last night to check in on the boys and holler at Jerry Manuel and Omar Minaya and company. He didn’t fire anyone, but it’s generally not a good sign when your owner visits and feels he has to say, “I didn’t come down here to fire anybody.” Anyway, the Mets beat the Braves 3–2, which had nothing to do with the meeting but is nice, regardless. One good thing that came out of the meeting, though: 20-year-old Jenrry Mejia is being sent down to the minors to work on being a starter, which is probably what he should have been doing in the first place. By the way: Tomorrow is Knuckleball Day, with R.A. Dickey making his debut in the Mets rotation against Washington. Knuckleballers are awesome.
