There’s a consensus that Mikhail Prokhorov’s media blitz over the past two days has been nothing short of amazing: The video to fans, the appearance at the Draft Lottery, the interview with Mike Francesa — all gold. Kiki Vandeweghe, though, might beg to differ. He won’t be retained as general manager when his contract expires this summer, which was news to Vandeweghe: Prokhorov announced it at his otherwise hilarious press conference without telling him first. Vandeweghe found out while on a plane — headed for this weekend’s pre-draft combine in Chicago. [NYP]
