Seriously, the Mets Should Probably Do Something About Jerry Manuel Soon

We don’t mean to be rude, and we never want to see unemployment rise, but what in the world is going on with Jerry Manuel? His baffling lineup and strategy decisions are making the Mets’ lives nearly impossible, and that’s a team that has enough problems as is. In the 2–1 loss to the Marlins last night, Manuel forgot Jose Reyes (who looks very, very lost) bats third and had him bunt (unsuccessfully) a runner to third and … well, you know, this is just an interstitial one-paragraph post and Manuel’s decisions are so out of nowhere that we can’t explain it and give you context in this few words. Just go with Amazin’ Avenue, which has rocketed toward the top of our favorite Mets blogs this season, explain it with pain: “This manager is using Fernando Nieve almost literally everyday [sic], bunting nonsensically and batting the team’s best hitter 5th in the order.” All right, that was concise enough. Anyway, make sure to check out AA’s brilliant Jeff Francoeur analogy, and hope Oliver Perez (cough) can get the Mets back on track tonight.
