We have our first two entrants in the knockout round of the World Cup: Uruguay and Mexico. Uruguay just beat Mexico 1–0, clinching the top spot in the group, and Mexico, despite the loss, takes the second spot thanks to a +1 goal differential. That’s three goals better than South Africa, which just beat France 2–1, putting a merciful end to Les Blues’ nightmarish World Cup. South Africa is the first host nation to fail to reach the knockout stage. Uruguay will play Saturday at 10 a.m. against whoever finishes second in Group B, and Mexico will go Sunday at 2:30 against the Group A winner, which is almost certainly going to be Argentina. Also, now you can finally check your pool bracket to see how you did; at last, results! At 2:30, Group B finishes its run with Argentina-Greece and Nigeria–South Korea.
