Oh, We Almost Forgot: NYC Baseball All-Stars!

The MLB All-Star Game benefits from how angry people get about it: Nobody cares who makes the NFL or NBA All-Star games, but if someone would dare be snubbed from a midsummer classic, burn Bud Selig on the foul pole! (We had no idea Joey Votto could become a Twitter trending topic without resorting to ritualistic slaughter of indigent peoples.) Anyway, the game is a week from today, and all your favorite Yankees and Mets will be there. Well, not all of them. From the Yankees, Derek Jeter and Robinson Cano will start, and, thanks to Joe Girardi being in charge, Alex Rodriguez, Phil Hughes, Mariano Rivera, CC Sabathia, and Andy Pettitte (added yesterday as an injury replacement) will be there, too. (Sabathia pitches Sunday and is unlikely to appear in the game.) You can also vote in Nick Swisher, in case seven Yankees isn’t enough for you. The Mets had David Wright voted in, and Jose Reyes will be around as well. They’re no Evan Meek, but they’ll have to do.
