The Mets lost again last night, one of those 2–1 crushers you’ll be thinking about if the Mets somehow finish one game out of a playoff spot. (It also brought Fire Jerry Manuel out of a brief retirement, inspiring an explosion of rage.) Anyway, the Mets continue their four-game set in Washington tonight, and tomorrow’s the fun one: It’s Strasmus, with Stephen Strasburg taking the hill. For fun, a comparison between Strasburg and his opponent, R.A. Dickey. Strasburg: 2–2, 2.27 ERA, 48 strikeouts in 31 and two-thirds innings. Dickey: 6–1, 2.98 ERA, 38 strikeouts in 51 one-third innings. Imagine how close Dickey would be with an ulnar collateral ligament.
