You may remember John Skelton, the Fordham quarterback product who became the first Ram to be selected in the NFL Draft since 1968 when the Arizona Cardinals picked him last April. (The mag had a tasty bit on him last year, too.) Well, Skelton is already the third-string quarterback for the Cardinals, and in their first preseason game Saturday night, clearly looked like the best quarterback on the field, leading the Cardinals to a comeback victory of the Houston Texans’ eighth-stringers. (Fun, irrelevant side note: Skelton’s uncle is a part-owner of the Texans.) “I think everything just fell into place,” Skelton told the Arizona Republic. Ahead of him on the Cardinals’ depth chart are Matt Leinart and Derek Anderson. So he’ll be starting by November, you’d have to think.
