Remember a couple of months back, when the USMNT was all the rage around these parts? Well, that team exists outside the construct of just the World Cup — we probably won’t be paying major attention to them until 2014 qualifying begins in a couple of years, though we’ll watch next year’s CONCACAF Gold Cup — and their first real post-Cup match is tonight, against Brazil, at New Meadowlands Stadium. It’s a friendly match-up, and many stars on both sides won’t be playing, but it’ll still be fun, and the first test of whether there is any post–World Cup bump in popularity for U.S. soccer. Another subplot: This might be the last game for Bob Bradley as coach; he has been rumored to be taking over Aston Villa or Fulham in the English Premier League. If you want to go to tonight’s game, tickets are certainly not cheap.
