Billy Beane Recommends Sandy Alderson, and the Rest of Today’s Mets Hiring News

Alderson.

As you’d expect he would, current A’s GM Billy Beane voiced support for his Oakland mentor, Sandy Alderson, in the Post today, saying, “There’s no question he would change the image there.” Beane says he knows that Alderson — who’s currently serving as a consultant in charge of reforming the league’s Dominican Republic office — “wants to run a club again,” and insists that he could co-exist with the Wilpons. In other news, the Times suggests that the Mets may be reluctant to hire another team’s assistant to be the new GM — White Sox assistant GM Rich Hahn is interviewing today — since they aren’t considering their own assistant, the trusted John Ricco. (This, too, would bode well for Alderson.) Meanwhile, the Daily News reports that the Mets have their eye on Dodgers assistant GM Logan White, perhaps for their scouting department. [NYP, NYT, NYDN]
