Let’s just say, for argument’s sake, that Cliff Lee is as dominant as ever in Game 3, and that he pitches a perfect game, strikes out 27 guys, and bakes a tray of delicious cookies so the Rangers can enjoy a tasty post-game snack. That’s only one win, and the Yankees wouldn’t be scheduled to face Lee again until a possible Game 7. So who else will Texas throw at the Yankees? Become re-acquainted with C.J. Wilson, Colby Lewis, and Tommy Hunter, after the jump.
C.J. Wilson, 29, LHP
2010 Stats: 33 starts, 15-8, 3.35 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, 170 strikeouts
2010 vs. Yankees: Wilson allowed three earned runs in six innings and took the loss in a rain-shortened game on April 16 in which a Chris Davis throwing error allowed two unearned runs to score. He got a no-decision on August 10 in Arlington (two runs on five hits), leaving after five-and-a-third innings in a game that David Murphy won on a tenth-inning single off Mariano Rivera. Then on September 10, a four-run inning ended his night after just three frames. (He got a no-decision in this game, too.)
ALDS vs. Rays: He followed Cliff Lee’s strong start with one of his own, allowing no runs and just two hits in six-and-a-third innings. He struck out seven to earn the win, giving Texas a 2-0 series lead.
