The Yankees Are Off to Arlington

Cliff Lee last night pitched the kind of game you now assume he’ll pitch in the playoffs — nine innings, one run, six hits, no walks, and eleven strikeouts — and his team’s 5-1 win over Tampa Bay means that for the first time ever, the Texas Rangers have won a postseason series. The Yankees won five more games than Texas this year, but as the wild card, of course, they’ll open on the road Friday night, in Arlington. (Just two baseball-less days to go!) Incidentally, the full ALCS schedule has now been released, start times and all. Which means you have a full week to think of an excuse to leave work early next Wednesday. So get going on that.
