The Mets’ Equipment Manager Is in Lots of Trouble

You know how professional gamblers, the ones with the 900 numbers, are always claiming they have “inside” info with teams? Most of the time they’re lying, but when they’re not, they’re talking about their connections with people like Charlie Samuels. The Mets’ equipment manager was suspended by the team last week, and now we know why: Because he got himself in some serious gambling troubles and ultimately had to “use his Mets accounts to cover gambling debts.” He must have some serious issues, because even though his Mets salary is $80,000, he reported more than $600,000 income to the IRS, which was at least honest. He is said to have told Major League Baseball that he did, in fact, bet on baseball games. This is totally going to destroy his Hall of Fame chances.
