So how did this blog’s Official Favorite Athlete do in his first career start yesterday? Well, he was unspectacular, to be honest, but as has been pointed out, John Skelton’s first career start probably went as well as could be expected, given the circumstances: 15–37 passing (though that includes at least four drops), no touchdowns, and no interceptions. But thanks to five Jay Feely field goals, a Feely touchdown on a fake field-goal attempt, two scores by Tim Hightower, and six Denver turnovers, the Buzzsaw That Is Will’s Arizona Cardinals — quarterbacked by a kid out of Fordham — came away winners, 43–13.
And this came less than 24 hours after the school’s men’s basketball team rallied from a 21-point second half deficit to upset St. John’s at a sold-out Rose Hill Gym on Saturday night. How significant was that win for Tom Pecora’s program, one that already has as many wins this season as it did the last two years combined? The video below says it all.
