Yankees ace CC Sabathia, for all his pitching majesty, has always been rather … um … buoyant. Sabathia, who stands around six foot seven, has hovered near 300 pounds at various points in his career. The word from Tampa, though, is that Sabathia reported to camp looking decidedly less globular. CC’s secret? It’s simple, really. From Mark Feinsand of the Daily News:
Sabathia on how he lost 25 lbs: “I stopped eating Cap’n Crunch every day … I used to eat that stuff by the box.”
Two relevant bits of information: 1. “CC” stands for Carsten Charles. It might not anymore, though. 2. According to CalorieCount.com and my team of number-crunching otters (who are to blame if this math is off), a standard sixteen-ounce box of regular Cap’n Crunch contains over 1,800 calories and 26 grams of fat, and that’s assuming no milk, no Crunch Berries. Cutting a regular infusion of that out of one’s diet? Yeah, that’ll lose you some pounds. Good for Cap — er, Carsten.
