Even Other Baseball Teams Are Using Derek Jeter in Their Ads Now

Pictured here, via Chicago-sports blog Tremendous Upside Potential, is a billboard advertising the upcoming on-sale date for 2011 Cubs tickets. On the left is Cubs shortstop Starlin Castro. And on the right? That’s Derek Jeter, who, as you may know, is not a Chicago Cub. (The Yankees, you see, visit Wrigley for three games in June, though the ad doesn’t explicitly mention that.) That the Cubs would feature an opponent so prominently on a billboard says more about the state of their team than it does about the Yankees’ shortstop, especially since a bus-shelter ad from the same campaign features another opponent, Albert Pujols. Though for our money, a Jeter billboard isn’t worth paying attention to if it’s not being shaved every three days, like this one in Soho. [Tremendous Upside Potential]
