No. 23 St. John’s. Even if the coaches poll has them two spots lower, that still sounds pretty good, doesn’t it? And teams that are ranked 23rd don’t worry about if they’ll make the NCAA Tournament. They worry about what seed they’ll get and who they’ll play. So where do the Internet’s best educated guessers bracketologists have them headed this week? Let’s look, after the jump.
Joe Lunardi, ESPN’s Bracketology: No. 6 seed, in Chicago, vs. the winner of a play-in game between Butler and Memphis, in the West regional. (Butler and Memphis are among Lunardi’s last four teams in the tournament.) A win could set up a second-round game against No. 3 Wisconsin.
Jerry Palm CBSSportsline.com: No. 7 seed, in Chicago, vs. No. 10 Tennessee, in the East regional. And if they win, Palm has them playing the winner of No. 2 Purdue and No. 15 … Long Island! An all–New York matchup! In the NCAA Tournament! Obviously, this needs to happen.
Andy Glockner, Sports Illustrated: No. 4 (!) seed, in Tampa, vs. No. 13 UTEP, in the Southeast region. That’s a three-spot jump from Glockner’s bracket last week. Awaiting in the second round? The winner of UNC-Cleveland State.
Blogging the Bracket: No. 5, in Denver, vs. Cleveland State, in the Southeast region. Here, they’d play the winner of UNC-Southern Miss in the Round of 32.
