You may recall that the hype around the 2011 Jets season began literally the day after the Saints won the Super Bowl. That morning, Gary Myers picked the Jets — who’d reached the AFC title game with a rookie coach and a rookie quarterback — and the Cowboys to play in Super Bowl XLV. (A few months later, at least one preseason publication went with the same matchup — and picked the Jets to win.) So should expectations be similar, now that they’ve also reached the AFC title game with a second-year head coach and a second-year quarterback? Vegas, at least, doesn’t think so. Bodog.com gives the Jets 16–1 odds to win Super Bowl XLVI. Seven teams — including five from the AFC — have better odds: Green Bay, New England, Pittsburgh, San Diego, Baltimore, Indianapolis, and New Orleans. (Three other teams have identical 16–1 odds.) Bodog, by the way, has the Giants at 20–1 to win it all.
