The Knicks have picked up Chauncey Billups’s $14.2 million option for next season. (They had until Friday — five days after the season ended — to decide whether to pick up the option or buy him out for $4 million.) Said Donnie Walsh in a statement: “Chauncey, Amar’e, and Carmelo are a great nucleus, as we continue to look to improve our team going into the off-season. Chauncey is an extremely talented and experienced point guard — we are very happy to have him back.” So that’s one major off-season decision down. Perhaps the next one won’t be far behind? [NYDN]
