Speaking of Sandy Alderson, he gave reporters a morsel of news yesterday, in addition to all the stuff about how the Mets aren’t giving up on their season: He announced that he expects David Wright to begin a rehab stint tomorrow and return to the big-league club next Friday, July 22. (Wright said pretty much the same thing to SNY, as well.) Via Hardball Talk, that would give Wright roughly 20 to 25 at-bats in the minors; Terry Collins had previously said he expected between 30 and 40. Wright, currently on the disabled list with a stress fracture in his lower back, hasn’t played since May 15. [mlb.com]
