Abby Wambach scored another huge goal in today’s semifinal match over France, this time off a header in the 79th minute to give the Americans a 2–1 lead — one they’d extend to 3–1 minutes later on Alex Morgan’s goal. (It’s a shame that on arguably the most boring day on this country’s sports calendar, an event worth watching took place in the middle of the day.) Anyway, it’s the third time the Americans have advanced to the Final — the first since winning the tournament back in 1999 — and they’ll play the winner of this afternoon’s Japan-Sweden match on Sunday in Frankfurt.
