You’ll recall that a couple weeks back, a foul ball that Derek Jeter hit during the at-bat in which he got his 3,000th hit went on the auction block. You may also recall that, as of last Monday, bidding had already reached $10,000. Well, bidding ended this weekend, and in all, the ball received fourteen bids — the highest of which was for $17,392. But here’s the thing: That bid — which, we’ll remind you, is for a foul ball — didn’t meet the seller’s reserve price. Somewhere, non-greedy souvenir-snagger Christian Lopez is crying, just a little.
