Jose Reyes Getting Close to Returning

Attention, residents of Binghamton who share our appreciation for seeing major-league stars play baseball in minor-league settings: Jose Reyes, currently on the disabled list with a hamstring injury, is set to play three straight games for the double-A Binghamton Mets beginning tomorrow. Then, after a day off on Sunday, the Mets plan to activate him on Monday for one game of their double-header against Florida. Just don’t expect Reyes to play in both games. Here’s Collins, via ESPN New York: “He told me yesterday he’d be ready for the doubleheader. And I told him I’m not really sure that will be worked into the books. His first game back, let’s run him out there for 18 innings? I could be opening my equipment bag and packing.” [ESPN New York]
