In general, we find it tough to get too worked up about preseason football. Yes, it’s a chance for certain guys to win playing time or mesh with new teammates, but mostly, we watch hoping no one gets hurt, and we wouldn’t judge Jets fans who stayed home and watched Plaxico Burress’s touchdown on TV last night, rather than getting soaked in a stadium with a no-umbrellas policy. (Sitting through crummy weather in a game that counts is one thing; doing so to watch third-stringers is another.) But in any case, we’ll note that the Giants will see their first home action of the year tonight against the Bears at New Meadowlands Stadium That’s Getting a Corporate Name Any Day Now. At least the weather will be nice, which is good news for everyone (except, we suppose, Joe Namath).
