So in addition to being the game in which the Giants lost two cornerbacks for the season to injury, last night’s preseason contest between the Giants and Bears will go down as the last game to take place at New Meadowlands Stadium before it ceased to be called New Meadowlands Stadium. Today, as expected, MetLife signed an agreement to rename the home of the Jets and Giants MetLife Stadium. (The venue’s new logo, if you’re wondering, does include a blimp, but does not include Snoopy.) The Bergen Record says that the 25-year naming-rights deal is worth a reported $16 million a year. And as part of the agreement, the Meadowlands assets west of Route 120 — that’s the stadium, the Giants’ practice facility (which has a corporate sponsor of its own!), and the racetrack — will now be known as the MetLife Sports Complex.
