It’s entirely possible you didn’t know there was a UFL team anywhere around here to begin with. (There was, kind of.) It’s also possible you’re not entirely sure what the UFL is. (It’s a second-tier, outdoor pro football league.) But in any case, the Hartford Colonials — who started out as the New York Sentinels back in 2009, when they split their home games between Giants Stadium, Hofstra’s Shuart Stadium, and East Hartford’s Rentschler Field — have suspended operations, leaving the UFL with just four teams for this season. For what it’s worth, the team says via its Twitter account that it hopes to resume operations in 2012, and the league commissioner said that the UFL isn’t necessarily done in Hartford for good. Said commissioner Michael Huyghue, via the Hartford Courant: “We have not closed the door on Hartford and will review the viability of returning to the city at the end of this season.” [Hartford Courant]
