John Sterling Doesn’t Have a Home Run Call for Chris Dickerson

Chris Dickerson #27 of the New York Yankees rounds the bases after hitting a two-run homer in the fourth inning against the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field on September 12, 2011.
Chris Dickerson.

What’s going on with John Sterling these days? First, he lets us down with his weak “Jesus is loose” home run call for Jesus Montero, and last night, he had no personalized call ready for Chris Dickerson’s first Yankee home run. Granted, it was Dickerson’s first home run since 2009, but that’s no excuse! Perhaps Sterling had thought of dozens of hilarious, edgy home run calls for Dickerson, but couldn’t come up with one that wouldn’t trigger an FCC fine. (Unlikely.) Or maybe after the backlash to the Montero call, he’s decided hold off on introducing any new calls into his repertoire. (Even less likely.) The John Sterling experts over at It Is High, It Is Far, It Is … Caught suggest a call that pays homage to former big-leaguer Johnny Dickshot. As always, you’re hereby encouraged to leave your suggestions in the comments section below.
