Go ahead and add Jonathan Goff to the growing list of Giants injuries: The middle linebacker has a torn ACL and is out for the season. Goff injured his right knee in practice on Monday, but when he still felt pain yesterday, he was sent for an MRI and learned the bad news. If you’re curious, Greg Jones, a sixth round pick out of Michigan State, is Goff’s backup, and would appear to be the likely starter as of right now. But the Giants have also looked at veteran Kawika Mitchell, a member of the Super Bowl XLII team, and they could sign him if he’s healthy. Beyond that, the Giants had just released Phillip Dillard on Saturday, and Keith Bulluck, who competed with Goff during training camp last year, remains a free agent. But man, what did Perry Fewell do to deserve all these injuries to his defense? [ESPN New York]
