Faux-Knicks Lose Their Third Fourth in a Row

As previously established, we are dealing with the (never going to end) NBA lockout by simulating the Knicks season on NBA2K12 on our PlayStation 3 and posting the results here, as if they were actual games. So! One of the initial bright spots in the lockout is that it wiped out the early-season West Coast trip the Knicks had to take; it’d be nice to miss that, presuming, of course, they did eventually start playing. In the video game simulation world, though, the Knicks have no such luck: They have to “play” these games. So the Knicks fell to 0-3 on the road trip, losing 87-85 to the Lakers at Staples Center. It was their fourth straight loss, all without Carmelo Anthony. Kobe Bryant had 35 points for the Lakers; Amar’e Stoudemire scored 31 for the Knicks. Injury to insult to injury: Toney Douglas missed a three-pointer at the buzzer that would have won the game … and then partially tore his labrum on the shot and will be out two weeks. That’s now three Knicks on the injured list: Anthony, Douglas, and Derrick Brown. Which means we’re gonna start Andy Rautins for Sunday’s game at Phoenix. With the Knicks at 3-6, what can it hurt?

As always, here’s a short video from the Lakers game, shot poorly off our television by our iPhone.
