Here’s some happy news: For the first time since undergoing surgery for prostate cancer on October 6, St. John’s coach Steve Lavin was back at practice today. Via ESPN, Lavin had previously been receiving DVDs of practices at his Manhattan apartment, where he could watch them and put together daily practice plans based on what he saw. It hasn’t yet been decided whether Lavin will coach the Red Storm — who won their season opener last night — in their second game of the year tomorrow against Lehigh at Carnesecca Arena.
